tough place to operate
purchased for operation in a walk out basement at a remote site in northern michigan, other units tried from the big box stores were useless and a total waste of money. The APRILAIRE unit was up and operational in about 15 minutes and had humidity levels under control in less than eight hours, total floor sspace 1200 sq ft. Unit makes noise but that is because it moves alot of air. Construction is excellent, operation simple, perfect example of the good old Made in the USA quality craftsmanship

Best High Quality Dehumid out
I have several apartment buildings. Previously, I was using the consumer grade 70 pt units from big box stores prior to this unit. They are averaging about 2 years service life. Generally they aren't repariable. I have gone through 6 in the last 5 years, and even kept a few for parts. They previously had brand names of Maytag, Fedders, and now Solieus. They all are made in China, and although they work great when new, they get noisy and very unreliable as they age. I have read reports that they wouldn't even fix them under warranty.
THIS UNIT is clearly a commercial grade unit, with metal cabinet, and real MERV 8 filter and much better effeciency at low temps. I use mine in basements, so this should be the idea unit. The drain has a trap in it that is a bit bulky as it sticks out almost a foot, and then connects to the drain line. The airflow causes some airflow noise like a large fan on high, but isn't offensive. If you have a humid area, or large area, I would recomend it, as I would expect to get 10-20 years life out of it.

Aprilaire Basement And Crawlspace Dehumidifier
I am very pleased with this unit. It was just as described when I uncrated it. The installation was simple and the unit is very effective in my crawl space area. My crawl space is about 2100 sq. ft. with an approx.3.5 fi heigth. The unit started cycling on and off with an approx. humidity of 45% after 2 or 3 days.

LOVE IT. Everthing dried out perfectly. We're hoping this will make our winemaking basement perfect. The best thing I've bought this year. The price was great(800 dollars less than what my heating and cooling people wanted.) THANK YOU

All larger appliances, from AC to dehumid will recomend a dedicated outlet. This unit is the same. It draws about 8 amps, so you should be able to share a circuit that is lightly loaded. I would just make sure yout circuit doesn't have other larger items on it where both may cycle on at the same time and trip your breaker. Those would included, AC, refridge, freezer, curling irons, irons, heaters, etc.
