Meets my needs I use this cooler for both wine and cheese (which I make). For my purpose it is perfect. Very quiet also. October 22, 2013
Great price for this product Needed to replace a wine refridgertor that I had for many years (cooling fan was no longer available). It was a slim, sleek unit that received many compliments from guests at my home and I'd hoped to find something similar. Was apprehensive about buying this type of product online. I am very picky and shopped stores before making a decision. Couldn't find a slim, sleek unit in any store (actually stores had a very limited supply) I decided to take a chance and it definitely was worth it. Instead of the typical boxy type wine refridgerator this style adds an interesting appliance to the kitchen. I happen to love it and the unit is exactly as represented. Only one negative... some bottles do not fit, but that's a very small percentage. Go for it!! March 10, 2013
Great first impression I received this unit yesterday, so this review is perhaps a bit premature. I selected this unit due to the capacity and, to be honest, the lack of reviews: coolers in this price point do not have too many positive reviews, so I figured I'd take a chance. The Good; The unit came well packaged and is cosmetically flawless: It is attractive and I'm happy that I purchased it. The two zones are separated by a rubber grommet, and the temperature controls for each zone are easy to use. I chose not to use the handle due in order to keep free space behind the unit - which you will want to maintain because the fans for the cooling units are back there. Who wants to overheat a new appliance anyway? The unit took a bit of time to cool down once I loaded it to the full 27 bottle capacity, including several Burgundy bottles (more on that later) - but the manual clearly states that it will take longer to cool off than a conventional fridge, and I'm ok with that. While it was cooling down, the fans were running pretty steadily - which I noticed until my furnace kicked on and then I couldn't hear it anymore. The not so Good: I'm not sure I really dig the 4 bottle upright section. It is very handy for me since I'm storing 4 expensive bottles of stout, and I think I'd prefer to lay all my wine bottles on their sides once I consume these beers. I also wish that whole section of shelving was easier to manage - it's one piece. At least I can set a bottle of wine across the tops of the beers, for now. Speaking of cramming wine into the unit, in order to get to 27 bottles, I did have to remove 2 shelves (in order to get 5 Burgundy bottles in the upper section). I expected this would be the case, and it isn't a big deal to me - I'm a Tetris champion. There's a bottle of Chardonnay that I missed, and I'll probably have to remove another shelf to get that sucker in there tonight. So overall, I'm really happy with my purchase. I haven't had it very long, so I can't comment on how long the cooling system will work before it fails (the typical complaint for units in this price point), and I hope I never have to. upper zone stopped working completely worked fine, only initial complaints were the shelving is limited in positions, and certain sized and shaped bottles do not fit at all, but could be lived with. yesterday the upper zone was at 77 F and will not go lower. no idea why this suddenly stopped working, have received zero support from Avanti, no one will answer emails, and it is past warranty. cooler has lasted only long enough to become a very expensive box, if you have to replace it every year it is not an inexpensive item at all.
