Wine Cooler
Works out very good and looks great under the counter w/the carpenters fitting to the space. Four the two of us works out great and holds enough for company. It is a little noise kicking on and off other wise perfect for us.

The Perfect Fit for an unused space
We have owned our 12 year old home now for 6 years and inherited a trash compacter that was NEVER used from the time it was installed when the house was built. After deciding to replace all of our white kitchen appliances with stainless steel ones, the compacter remained the most difficult to replace with anything Sears sold. After searching websites for the possibility of putting a wine cooler in that small space, we thought our options were slim to none.....until we found Compact Appliances. You had several models to choose from with the correct dimensions and what sealed the deal was a review that said "we bought this model to replace our old trash compacter" and that was what we took as a sign that it would be just what we needed. It has been a joy and is now full of our favorite wines.

Great design and attractive
We bought this unit to replace a trash compactor and are very pleased. This is a very attractive unit, especially if you leave the blue lights on and the fridge is not fully loaded (otherwise the lights get blocked from view). We load it up with some wine, bottled beer, a variety of cans (each shelf can swallow 12 12 oz. cans), gatorade bottles (8 per shelf), milk and cheese. You can get a lot of product into this unit. Another advantage to this unit is that the temperature can get down cold enough for milk and cheese, which many others cannot. I've read complaints about noise on other sites, but ours is very quiet; you hear the compressor kick in when the door is open and that's pretty much it. We were a little disappointed in the installation since the depth does not include the door, so ours kind of extends into the room 1/4" past the countertop, but the stainless door and handle are attractive so it is just fine. We've only had the unit 3+ weeks so long-term care is unknown, but so far this has been a great cost-effective purchase.

Dishwashers have a noise measurement, so you can purchase based on how loud they will be when operating. Is there something similar with wine coolers? Some people report this cooler is very quite while others state it's very noisy. Is it their opinion or maybe an operational problem with their units? Product - DWC1534BLS - Danby Silhouette 34 Bottle Built-In Wine CoolerAnswers
A:
Noise is very relative to people. What one person considers noisy, another may think is whisper quiet. That said, this unit will make what many consider a slight hum, especially when the compressor is on, but it should not be so loud that it disturbs anything. The unit should be no louder than your refrigerator. Another unit you may want to consider that I know is very quiet is the Edgestar CWR300SZ. That unit is very quiet, and has excellent reviews.1 of 1

Countertop wine refrigerators are great for those who don't have the floor space or an area under their countertop for a wine refrigerator. Some can store multiple bottles.
Wine chillers can chill a bottle in as fast as 5 minutes. They can sit on a table during dinner for easy access without being in the way, and moved back to the counter for storage afterward. Some models even come with a 12 Volt cigarette lighter plug if camping or tailgating.
Built-in wine refrigerators are a good replacement for outdated trash compactors or any other older undercounter appliance in a kitchen or wet bar, making it perfect if you want to free up some floor space. Units include a front vent to dissipate compressor heat during operation; they also come in a variety of colors and sizes to fit anything from 15 to over 150 bottles. Its stainless steel or wood trim and doors add an elegant look to any space around the house. Always position your refrigerator away from direct sunlight or any heat-producing sources, like a dishwasher, as this will force units to work harder to keep cool. Placement near an appliance that may cause vibration such a trash compactor is also detrimental to sediments.
A single zone wine refrigerator refers to a unit with only one thermostat control, the temperature control knob is often located on the back of the refrigerator. You may store both red and white wines together in a single zone unit if separate zones are unavailable. By placing your red wines in the top shelves of the unit you will be storing them in the warmest section of the cooler. There is usually only a 5 to 8 degree temperature difference between the top and bottom of a single zone wine refrigerator. Ultimately, your red wines will be too cold or your whites too warm depending on how you choose to set the master thermostat of the unit.
A multiple zone wine refrigerator refers to units with 2 or more thermostat controls. Most coolers come with digital controls to adjust the different temperatures. The best way to accommodate both red and white wines within the same unit is to purchase a dual or triple zone wine cooler. Typically, white wines should be stored in the temperature range of 50ºF to 62ºF and red wines will be stored between 58ºF to 68ºF. A multiple zone cooler will allow you to maintain distinct and separate temperature zones within the same cooler. Many times these units will offer a larger storage capacity for one style of wine over the other so be sure to purchase the unit that best suits your individual drinking preference. For triple zone coolers, you can keep your ready-to-serve whites and reds at their appropriate temperatures and in the middle zone keep wines that are still aging at their correct temperature (50-60º F).
