Danby portable dehumidifier, does the job This dehumidifier seems to do exactly what it is advertised to do (which I appreciate greatly). It's quiet, easy to use and dehumidifies. I'm not sure if there is such a thing as a low temperature dehumidifier - our lower level (half basement) definitely warms up with this unit running. I don't particularly like the fact that the fan stays on when the desired humidity level is reached, because the motor is still running and heats up the area (about 750 sq ft, BTW). But this isn't a Danby issue, all the dehumidifiers I looked at have the same feature. So I turn it on at night and turn it off in the morning. Overall, good value for the price, would definitely recommend this unit. July 8, 2013
Dehumidifier for finished basement Much better quality than the LG I had before that only last 2 years. Less noisy than the LG, but still moderately noisy even on low (without the annoying additional vibrating whine that the LG had). Collects the moisture well. My major complaint is that it generates a lot of heat - once I turn it on, the temperature actually rises a couple degrees in the basement. I did not have this problem with the LG. A very minor complaint is that the collection bucket has rounded back corners so that it is "tippy" as you remove it for emptying, unless you manage to get a hold of the handle before it starts to spill. This is not a significant problem for me, just a very minor problem for someone who was unaware of the collection bucket set up. I like this unit very much EXCEPT for the fact that it heats up the room! That's a big problem that the company should address. July 17, 2012
