Danby Energy Star 60 Pint Portable Low Temp Dehumidifier with Pump 4.7 5 21 31
Great Product...So Far The Danby Energy Star dehumidifier was extremely easy to set up, and works like a champ. I tried all three methods of emptying the water (internal bucket, gravity drain hose, and pump), and all worked great. The best set up was with the pump emptying into a washing machine drain. The humidity in my basement hit the "normal" zone in one day...never has it been so low for this time of year. It is somewhat noisier than I expected, but still within reason. Too early to tell about energy use or reliability. June 22, 2014
Excellent product for my needs. For many years, we have had a lot of problems with moisture in our cellar to the point we couldn't store anything down there without it getting all mildew. A friend of mine mentioned this Danby humidifier and how good it was. I got in the net and did some research for a few days, and decided that the amount of positive feedback from other people was good enough for me. It arrived and I hooked it up (very simple). After 24 hours the humidity dropped to 56%. I thought to myself after a few days, that if one works that well, then I will get another one. Our house is L shaped and I wasn't sure if it was drawing all the humidity from the far corners in the L shape. The second one came, I hooked it up, and in 24 hours with both of them running the humidity dropped to 42% and the temp went to 66 degrees. You can set the readings you want right on the top of the machine. I also purchased a thermometer type device that sticks on the ceiling jack and it gives you all the readings you need. Humidity level and temperature in the cellar. I have checked it with other devices, and it is accurate. I have one regret. I wish I had done this 40 yrs ago, June 21, 2014
Easy to set up and quiet I do not know how energy efficient it is because I am using it only two weeks. The area of the basement is much more comfortable. June 21, 2014
Buy This One! I've had this for about 6 weeks now, and I love it. I flat can not hear the compressor, and the fan on low is not objectionable. In fact, it sits in the same room as the TV, and all I did was nudge the volume up 5 points. If you're in a hurry to dry things out, kick it up on high and put it somewhere else, as it does get a little bit more noisy. It comes with two different drain hoses - one for a gravity drain, and one that will pump the water above the unit to drain it. (or farther away, if you can't reach a drain conveniently). Of course if you chose not to use the drain hoses, the water cassette pulls out of the front of the unit and has a convenient carrying handle. It doesn't get full enough to slosh out on the way to the sink. This is also when you can check and wash the air filter if it needs it. I haven't used the remote control, but it has one. It is supposed to come back on appropriately in the event of a power failure, and unplugging it and plugging it in verifies that. You cannot set the humidity lower than 30%. It also has a timer, another feature I have not tested. However, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase, and the only reason I have it a 4 in noise is that would be the maximum I would ever give a dehumidifier. I liked this one so much that I bought another, larger Danby model for my basement. June 20, 2014
