Danby Energy Star 60 Pint Portable Dehumidifier
We have had many dehimidifiers and they haven't lasted. Of course we won't know until at least next year how long this one lasts but the review in Consumer Reports did give us confidence that we were finally on the right track.

We purchased the Danby about 3 weeks ago to replace a Kenmore that
had taken its last breath. So far we are very pleased with the unit. We run it in different places (basement only) about 6 hours a day. I try to empty it before it is full because the bucket does get heavy when at capacity. I appreciate the handle which makes an awkward task a little easier. My only complaint is that the unit seems to drip a little when the bucket is removed. Not much, but I need to make sure I have a paper towel when
emptying water. Our Kenmore lasted 20 years! I would be happy to get
half that from the Danby. (Runs quietly which is a bonus!)

Great Product! First Danby purchase and not the la
This machine is just fantastic. This is actually my first dehumidifier purchase, but I am nothing less than satisfied so far. The drain hose is made of a light, crushable plastic, but doesn't not leak when set up for automatic drainage. Machine is lightweight, easily lifted by one person and not tremendously loud. On the high fan setting it is not much louder than a small fan set on high. Warranty and registration was a 10 minute no brainer, and if you register it online the company gives you two months of warranty extension.
I use it in the garage where humidity had been previously 55-65%, and with it running probably 8-12 hours a day the RH can be kept at 40-45% in a non-insulated three car garage that could use some weather sealing.

The 60 pint Danby dehumidifier is a real work horse! I bought one a month ago to reduce the humidity in 900 sq ft of dirt crawl space in a seasonal residence in Vermont. Within a couple of hours, the humidity level goes from 90% to 55%. The machine is quiet, to the point where I could envision it in a living space. It's somewhat heavy, but I'm a middle-aged woman and was able to carry the machine by myself from the car into the crawl space and get it centered.
The only problem I'm having is when I connect a garden hose to it so it will drain continuously, I find that very often the collecting bucket within the machine still fills up. The machine automatically shuts off when the bucket is full, so that's not a problem, but I'm pretty sure the water is not supposed to collect in the bucket when a hose is connected for continuous draining. The hose isn't kinked and the open end where the water should drain out isn't blocked or plugged. So, I haven't determined whether I'm doing something wrong or whether there's a problem with the unit - that's the only reason I gave it 3 stars for performance. But as far as how well this product dehumidifies, how easy it is to operate, and how quiet it is, it's excellent!
Also, LivingDirect was great to deal with and got the product to me very quickly without additional cost for expedited shipping. I was very impressed.
