    • Energy Saving Programmable Features:

Cut costs by setting the unit to run only when you need it, and have it efficiently cool your space before you even get there using the 24 hour programmable timer-- The timer allows you to set the unit to cycle on automatically, or once it is on, you can set it to automatically turn off

    • Intelligent Auto Restart:

This unit’s auto restart function stores your settings, so that in case of a power outage, it will pick right back up where it left off when power is regained

Learn from the Experts: Comparing Dual vs Single Hose Portable A/C's

    Dual Hose Portable Air Conditioners
MAXIMUM EFFECTIVENESS - The room is cooled up to 40% faster and more efficiently.

    - There is no pressure lost within the room because all indoor air is cooled and ventilated.

    - The second hose allows outdoor air to be brought in to cool the unit during operation.
    Single Hose Portable Air Conditioners
      - Some internal air is exhausted through the window and causes the room to lose air pressure.

    - Warmer air from adjacent areas (under doorways & other unsealed areas) enters the room to equalize air pressure. Because of this, it takes more energy and time to cool down a room.

EdgeStar Extreme Cool 14,000 BTU Cools down room quick....auto function works well....no issues. Have not used the heat function. Super fast shipping from Living Direct.....would do business again. Thanks July 30, 2014
Unsure on energy efficiency as I have not received bill since installing, product is for my store which is 1820 sq. ft., more than it was designed for, but it brought the temp from 84 to 70 within 12 hours, another challenge as I have 22' ceilings. Will be interesting to see if it helps with heating this winter. Price was excellent. Just wish it had included weather stripping to seal around plastic window insert, as I had to stop installation and run to the hardware store, but an excellent AC, and many customers are impressed that an upright is able to cool that well. Sshhhh!!! This unit is so efficient and is unbelievably so quiet. Ive had other units that you couldn't watch tv with it running. You almost don't realize this unit is running at all. Definitely the best a/c unit that I have ever bought!! July 22, 2014
Wonderful I've had this air conditioner unit for about a week now. During that week, the days here in Oregon haven't been any less than about 90°, except for one day in the high 80's and humid with thunderstorms. This air conditioner has worked like a champ keeping our upstairs apartment with large west-facing windows nice and cool. We haven't bothered keeping all the bedroom doors closed but it still manages to keep the living room nice and the rest of the apartment reasonable. As you get more toward the back of the apartment, where the bedrooms are, it does get warmer of course, but we certainly don't bake in this heat. The living room has an invisible wall of cool when you walk in though. The overall apartment is about 950 sq. ft. After running this thing for the whole week, I wanted to see how much water had been collected in the tank. So I put a small dish under the drain and opened the plug. Out dripped 4 drops of water. I'm going to make a wild guess that most or all of that was from the one humid day we had this week. This time of year, we typically have around 40% humidity, just to give you an idea. I'm not sure how well this would work in a high-humidity area like Missouri. Anyway, my plans for the apartment were to close off the living room with a large bed sheet tacked to the walls in order to make the living room the oasis during the hot days. Turns out that's not necessary. However, I imagine it would probably not have to be on a/c the whole time if I did close it off. Our hottest time of day is around 3pm to 6pm and the a/c stays on that entire time. Anyway, this a/c unit performs surprisingly well and isn't quite as loud as I had anticipated. Yes, I do have to turn the TV up but it's really not that bad. Love it! Do yourself a favor -- the dual-hose feature of this unit is very much worth the extra cost. Read the Compact Appliance articles about the differences between single-hose and dual-hose units to better understand the reasons why. July 15, 2014
