It traps pollen, pet dander, bacteria, mold spores, dust mite debris and smoke particles. This disposable filter eliminates the need to cleaning the Vornado AQS500 Whole Room Air Purifier. It is recommended that the filter is replaced 1-2 times per year depending on use. Includes 2 Replacement Air Filters. Created with the allergy sufferer in mind, this disposable filter (model: MD1-0015) can be changed without coming into direct contact with the used filter.

Great filtering and quiet operation I bought this system with the claim of being able to filter antigens and has quiet operation. It definitely lives up to that claim and for a very reasonalbe price. I have been using my units for 2+ years now. We have 3 cats and 2 dogs in the house and use 1 unit in the cat room, 1 unit by the dogs, and 1 unit in the baby room. It really cuts down on smell and allergens! My asthma does great. I like the multi-speed feature, fast to quickly filter the room and slow to keep things super quiet if needed. Medium is great in our house for typical operations. We change filters about 3-4 times a year. Would recommend! August 21, 2011

shorter-lived filters than expected the filters work very well, but filled up much faster than we expected ---according to Vornado's own change schedule. And the "full" filter light never came on. We'd been smelling dust and wondering if we were imagining things. Meanwhile our allergy symptoms gradually got worse, thank you very much. We finally opened the machine and used our eyes. But...we like the machine's performance so we'll continue to purchase filters and not rely on the indicator light. BTW we use the filter in a room with no pet access, so we can't blame the kitties for this one. November 27, 2011

Traps a lot of allergens, but with some drawbacks This purifier traps a lot of allergens and has helped limit my asthma attacks. That being said, I bought the Vornado AQS because it said I would only have to change the filters 1-2 times a year, unless the filters had visible build up. I leave my purifer on all day, every day, on the quiet setting in my small bedroom. My door is always closed and I have a separate filter on the air duct. So, though there are two cats in the house, my purifier is primarily working only in my bedroom. I have to change the filter 3-4 times a year because it has a lot of visible buildup after that rather short period of time. So, while I'm happy with the performance, I'm not happy with the value. Hello. Please see below for the the room coverage chart. The filters for this unit are currently in stock and Vornado recommends that they be changed 1 to 2 times per year. Also, the unit itself comes with two filters.
