The Delonghi Split Portable Air Conditioner offers 13,000 BTU of power - the most offered by any portable air conditioning unit, and its innovative split desgin eliminates the need for a bulky exhaust to vent the hot air that this portable air conditioner removes from your room. The secret lies in Delonghi's separation of the condenser and evaporator sections of the portable air conditioner. You keep the cooling part of the portable air conditioner in the room to be cooled, and put the part that dissipates heat outside - the only connection between the two split units is a 13 foot long piece of flat tubing (3/4" x 1 3/4" in cross-section). Additionally, the tubing can be temporarily disconnected from the two units - so it can be threaded through a small hole, for example (Delonghi recommends that this be performed by am HAVC contractor, but the owner's manual gives instructions so you can do it yourself).
