The Samlex Step-Down DC-DC Converter - 20-35 V to 13.8 V - 15 Amps (SDC-20) allows you to efficiently step down the DC power output from a lower voltage DC power source. The SDC-20 is a high power, high efficiency converter with a switch-mode design. Mountable in virtually any desired location, the converter is housed in a tough marine grade aluminum case capable of withstanding threats posed by outside elements. As a non-isolated DC-DC converter, this unit is optimal for negative ground systems and can be used for a seemingly endless list of applications including RVs, marine vehicles, heavy equipment, 12 volt lighting systems, AM/FM sound systems, solar and alternative power systems, and essentially any 12 volt power equipment. In addition, this particular converter is specifically designed to be operated in hazardous locations - Class 1, Div 2, Gp. C & D, T6.

With a complete protection package, this step-down DC-DC power converter features protection against reverse polarity as well as overloading through the use of a cycle by cycle current limiting circuit. The converter includes a varistor to prevent over-voltage and load dump, and even automatically lowers the output voltage to avoid overheating.
