Pros and Cons We ordered one of these units and the buttons on the small control panel would not function at all and there was a seven degree temperature swing before the unit would begin to cool. We sent it back and received a replacement unit. The buttons on this unit do function...after some work and familiarization. On the plus side, the unit is very attractive with its seamless stainless steel door and wood shelving on what appears to be ball bearing slides. On the negative side, the Manual is almost worthless and the glass panel buttons do not function unless they are touched softly with the pad of your finger and then you wait for a few seconds for them to respond. At first we pressed them expecting to feel then depress. They do not. We tried to press them softly, then with considerable pressure, then quickly and then holding the button down for several seconds. A soft touch with the pad of your finger works the best. The Manual does not explain any of this. Also, the instructions in the Manual for removing a shelf appear to apply to some other wine fridge because the hardware described in the Manual does not match the hardware in our unit. In order to have confidence that the set/desired temperature in the interior is what the control panel displays, we put 3 separate refrigerator thermometers in the interior (top, middle and bottom). In order to maintain our desired interior temperature of 52 degrees, we have to set the unit at 49 degrees. Not a big deal, but something worth mentioning. Set at 49 degrees, this unit begins to cool at an indicated temperature of 50 degrees on the control panel and then cools to an indicated temperature of 47 degrees. All the while, the interior temperature stays between 50 and 52 on our thermometers. Bottom line: We initially considered returning the second unit out of frustration at trying to make it work properly. After several calls to LivingDirect and working with the unit for several days, we now know how to "soft touch" the buttons so that they will respond (most of the time) and the unit otherwise (so far) seems to be functioning properly. Also, this is the best looking unit we could locate with the exterior dimensions we needed. LivingDirect has been good to deal with and they offer a 60 days "buyers remorse" or defect return for a full refund and they pay the return shipping. February 27, 2014
