What a great idea! We ordered one for our largest branch of the library. We enjoyed it so much that we ordered 2 more for our other branches. I would highly recommend this product to anyone! June 24, 2014
Good Purchase This ice maker is great. It usually lives in the bar in my basement but we also take it tailgating and camping. I would buy it again. November 14, 2013
Decent Little Ice Maker I previously owned a Danby Ice Maker for about 8 years until it stopped working, so was happy to try this new Danby Ice Maker. First, this one has a much smaller footprint, which is great. Second, it mostly has the same features as my previous ice maker. It makes a few less pieces of ice per round, but it works pretty fast, so I'm happy with the output. It is lighter weight, but feels solid enough. One thing to note: The description states that it makes only one size ice cube, but it makes three different sizes. The stainless version of the product only makes one size. There are two issues for me with this ice maker: 1# There is an odor and taste from the new plastic parts. You must run the cleaning cycle many more times than recommended to start with, and I went to the effort of making ice with fresh vinegar water after running through the cleaning cycle about twice as many times as recommended. The odor is finally gone. 2) There are two parts to the plastic plug that seals the drain. There is an outer cap that screws on and off, and there is a soft rubbery plug that inserts into the drain itself, with a flat cap on it. Within 5 removals of the plug, the rubbery plug broke - the flat cap tore off, leaving the insert portion stuck in the drain hole. There was no way to get it out #the drain is too small for any tools), but I was able to push it through to open the drain. Danby included a replacement plug with the unit, so this must be a fairly common occurrence. Other than those two things, this ice maker has been a huge convenience for me so far this hot summer!
